Rieber relies on PFAS-free multislide® DURAPEK® coating: A step into the future

At Rieber, innovation and responsibility go hand in hand - especially when it comes to the quality and sustainability of our products. Since April 2024, we have consistently used the PFAS-free multislide® DURAPEK® coating for our thermoplates®. This puts us in a pioneering role in the industry. This change is not only in line with the new EU regulation of September 20, 2023, which more strictly regulates the use of PFAS worldwide, but also as a conscious contribution to a more sustainable future.

Focus on sustainability and safety
PFAS have long been valued for their water and grease repellent properties, but their negative impact on people and the environment has led to strict legal restrictions. The switch to multislide® DURAPEK® ensures that our products meet current and future environmental standards. By 2026, all thermoplates® will be equipped with the new, environmentally friendly coating.

Special properties of multislide® DURAPEK®
The innovative non-stick and sliding coatings from multislide® DURAPEK® not only make it possible to do without PFAS, but have already replaced ceramic coatings. Their high temperature resistance (up to 350°C for short periods) makes them particularly suitable for use in cooking processes. Thanks to their efficiency, a thin layer can often be used, which saves resources. The coating does not outgas, has all the necessary food law approvals and offers clear advantages in terms of durability and ease of care.

Advantages of the PFAS-free multislide® DURAPEK® coating
Our new coating offers numerous advantages:

  • Durability: High resistance and easy to clean even under demanding conditions.
  • Environmentally friendly: Free from harmful chemicals and less harmful to nature.
  • Health and safety aspects: Protection for users and reduction of environmental impact.
  • High temperature resistance: multislide® DURAPEK® nonstick is heat-resistant up to 300°C and can be used for short periods up to 350°C, ideal for use in the oven.
  • Unique non-stick effect: Makes cleaning easier and prevents food from sticking.
  • High chemical resistance: Resistant to alkalis, acids and water vapor.

Comparison of CO2 Emissions of Reusable GN Containers Made of Stainless Steel, Green Steel and Plastic Disposable Packaging

This report compares the CO₂ emissions of reusable GN containers made of stainless steel and Green Steel with conventional plastic disposable packaging. The results show which packaging solutions are more sustainable in the long term and how their environmental impact develops over several usage cycles. The aim is to create a sound basis for decisions on the use of more environmentally friendly packaging in the food and catering sectors.
