Together with the Ulm-based commercial catering company gastromenü, which does not just focus on sustainability in terms of raw materials, we show how stainless steel GN containers can be handled and organised in a multi-cycle deposit system through the C

gastromenü does not want to deliver its food in disposable packaging in the future so it needs an efficient and intelligent solution. Both for the sake of the environment since the daily savings would be substantial , says Thomas Eifert, a Gastromenü boss.[ And for health reasons, because there is no disposable packaging material that is entirely safe. The stainless steel GN containers, on the other hand, are robust, durable, hygienic, antibacterial and absolutely food-safe and suitable for use with food products. gastromenü supplies 260 schools and nursery schools daily and serves a total of over 10,000 meals a day. The company employs around 500 people in the Donautal suburb of Ulm. An organised process in a multi-cycle system is therefore essential. To ensure the safe traceability of Gastronorm containers, we have developed a QR-based multi-cycle system, which is currently being tested in several schools, nursery schools and daycare centres with great success, says Thomas Eifert:

“The feedback has been excellent. Not only have we introduced this multi-cycle system, we have also created a multi-component menu from which the facilities can order accurately so that no food goes to waste. The order quantities are perfectly adapted.”

To ensure that our hygienic stainless steel GN containers can be handled efficiently in the process, we have considerably optimised our classic Rieber container range. The new GN-ONE® container with patented stacking lugs enables the very easy unstacking and separation of the system, both manually and automatically. This innovation sets a significant milestone for the efficiency and handling of Gastronorm containers. A multi-cycle food supply can be handled with the new GN-ONE® standard and reliably organised and tracked through the CHECK CLOUD platform in a deposit system. With CHECK TRACE, the container QR codes are scanned and therefore the empties are recorded at different delivery points, which allows caterers or commercial kitchens to map their day-to-day catering without any disposable packaging. A forward-looking, environmentally and resource-friendly approach.
